​Information and Referral Services

CSA annually provides information and referral to hundreds of metro area residents with social services problems to the metro Washington area's network of sister agencies and government programs.

Everyone experiences a time when they have an emergency need. Please feel free to contact the Community Services Agency at

Lay-off and Strike Preparation

​CSA helps workers facing lay-off with job search assistance, filing for unemployment compensation, resume writing and interview skills. CSA also provides support to workers on strike including food and financial assistance to help keep them afloat until they return to work.

Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF)

CSA provides approximately $120,000 annually and assists more than 350 union families with emergency financial needs, helping to prevent utility cut-offs, evictions and foreclosures, and help for needed prescriptions, transportation, food, child care and other support. The EAF is open to qualified union members whose locals contribute annually to the program. Click here for more information.

Building Futures Pre-Apprenticeship Program

​Building Futures is a construction pre-apprenticeship training program for local residents looking to start a careers in the construction industry. The program has been serving our communities and Washington DC area's registered apprenticeship programs since 2007 making a difference in people's lives one men and woman at a time!

Union Volunteer Recruitment

In partnership with the area's nearly 200 local unions, CSA works to recruit union volunteers for community projects. Annually, we generate over 300 union volunteers who participate in helping to strengthen our communities in a variety of ways.
